Cloverfield Green is one of the rarest and most visually striking of all early Rickenbacker finishes — a deep, metallic green with a subtle shimmer that stands apart from anything else the company produced. It was offered for only a brief window from 1954 to 1957, applied exclusively to the earliest Combo-era instruments during the transition from the Electro String era into the F.C. Hall period. The scarcity is real: very few instruments left the factory in this finish, and fewer still survive in presentable condition today. When one surfaces it tends to attract serious attention. Unlike the more common finishes of the era, Cloverfield Green was never revived or reissued, which makes original examples the only way to experience it. The colour pairs particularly well with the early Tulip and transitional body shapes of the mid-1950s, and instruments in this finish represent some of the most desirable pieces in early Rickenbacker collecting.
