Burgundyglo is a rich, deep wine-red finish that Rickenbacker offered during a relatively limited period — making it one of the more sought-after of the non-standard colours from the modern era. Unlike the big three finishes which were available across virtually the entire catalogue, Burgundyglo appeared on a narrower range of models and was not consistently available year to year. This intermittent availability is part of what makes it collectible — players and collectors who wanted it often had to order specifically, and production numbers were accordingly lower than for Fireglo or Jetglo. The colour itself has a depth and warmth that photographs well but looks even better in person, particularly on bound instruments where the contrast between the deep red body and the cream binding creates a striking visual effect. Examples vary somewhat in tone across different production periods, with some leaning more towards purple and others more firmly in the red spectrum.
Burgundyglo was offered by Rickenbacker from the late 1960s through the 1980s, making a brief return in the early 2000s due to popular demand. During these periods, it became a sought-after choice for those looking for a finish that stood out from the more traditional options.
